The Dracut Food Pantry is a local 501(c)(3) that provides short and long-term food assistance to Dracut residents who are struggling to put food on the table. We are located at 1934 Lakeview Avenue in Dracut, Massachusetts.
The pantry is run by a Board of Directors consisting of 11 volunteers from each of the three churches and the town. No one is paid to work at the pantry. From the Board of Directors to the volunteers, from stocking shelves to collecting food, from welcoming clients on Saturday to restocking the shelves for the next opening, Dracut Food Pantry is a 100% volunteer organization.
Mission
The mission of the Dracut Food Pantry is to provide short and long-term food assistance to Dracut residents who are struggling to put food on the table in this difficult economy. We will also serve anyone referred to the pantry by Dracut clergy, the clerk’s office or other town organization.
The pantry offers help in other ways when needed, including informing clients of other available resources and agencies.
The primary goal of our organization is to provide a variety of non-perishable food on a monthly or as-needed basis. We are typically open on the fourth Saturday, a time when state or federal support checks typically run low.
The amount of food that we offer each month is based on our donations from the community at that time.
Clients shop with a supportive volunteer for the items they need, thereby eliminating waste. The environment is friendly, clean and comfortable, and client information is kept strictly confidential.
Board of Directors
The Dracut Food Pantry is governed by a Board of Directors that meet every other month. The ten board members represent the three Dracut churches that were instrumental in the formation of the pantry – St. Francis Parish, St. Marguerite D’Youville Parish and Christ Church United. The board also includes members representing the town of Dracut.
In addition to board member and director duties, board members work as volunteers — maintaining the pantry, tracking food supplies, ordering and picking up food from grocery stores, food drives and other sources, organizing fundraisers, paperwork, advertising, and finances.
All board members reside in Dracut or work in Dracut and are non-paid, as are all of our volunteers. The Dracut Food Pantry is a 100% volunteer-run organization.
